A lot of people are now aware that the Mayan calendar ends on 21 December 2012 and a lot of people have said that the end of the world 2012 is surtain. Well first we have to understand what this means. According to an interpretation, 2012 corresponds to other prophecies, like revelations from the Bible or it may even be taken from Hindu beliefs that predict the end of the world will be in 2012.
Another one, less scary says that December 2012 is just the end of a special cycle. Some have associated this moment with the Age of Aquarius.
Jose Arguellos was the first one to make this idea very popular because of the book he wrote in 1980. One very important book is “Maya Factor”.Recently, other writers have developed their own theories about the end of the world in 2012.
We know for a fact that the universe is around for billions of years and so it would be highly unlikely to just end in the next few years.
An important thing is that time itself is not something real, just a concept invented by man.This includes all of our calendars, clocks and other machines invented specifically for time management and time observation. Put simple, time is just reality; it doesn’t have a beginning or an end.
We could describe this as a way of following the changes. As philosophers of different schools have underlined, it would be hard to say that a lot of thins in our world have or need to be changed.So, if 2012 will be a time interval of change, this thing could be both good and bad.
We humans have been preoccupied to understand problems like climate change, nuclear and biological weapons as well as a lot of other ecological and environmental problems.
Despite all these theories we can hardly imagine a scenario where all humans and civilizations will be whipped off the face of the earth, or even worse, that the entire earth will disappear.
The only way this could happen is if terrifying events will happen like: a pole reversing or a giant asteroid colliding with our planet. Although we may seem defenseless you should be aware that there is a higher risk of being hit by a truck on the street than the earth being hit by an asteroid.
So the probabilities of that happening are quite low.
Another idea which came to the prophets minds is the idea of predestination. It’s the idea that all things in this world are already predestined or meant to happen and that they are written on rocks.
It is believed that ancient Mayans and Hindus or bible scribes could anticipate in advance something that would happen thousand of years later.
This means that no matter what you will do, the final results and events will be identical.What will really happen in 2012? No one knows for sure. But, after all we will just have to wait and see.
